About the Coogee Penguins

The Coogee Penguins Winter Swimming Club is part of and affiliated with the Coogee Surf Lifesaving Club. We swim on Sundays at the Ross Jones Pool, in front of the Surf Club, from the first week in May until the last week in September. Our season also includes the opportunity to Swim in the National Winter Swimming Championships in September and the Sydney Invitational Winter Swimming Championships at Bondi Icebergs in July. In addition members can joins us for lunch in the Coogee Surf Lifesaving Club once per month.

The Penguins are a group of people who enjoy swimming at Coogee in winter, we are made up from men, women and kids, ranging in age from 6 years to 80 years plus. Weekly events are 20 lap Nominated Time, 2 and 4 lap handicap, Individual Medley and 4 person relay. There are also Annual Age and Grade Championship events. Handicap events means we are open to swimmers of all ability levels.

Annual Fees apply to Coogee SLSC members and non-members. These covers registration with the Winter Swimming Association as well as entry to all events for the season.

Members and guests wishing to swim should contact the Handicapper on 0450636650 before 20:00 on Saturday or be at the Ross Jones pool before 9:45 Sunday morning (races to start at 10:15am).
